Last month I had the pleasure of calling to visit three different clients located in Bexley, Kingsgrove and Sutherland. All have had their Terms and Conditions of Trade in place now for around a year, and all are now reporting little or no problems in regards to getting paid promptly, which was not the case prior to implementing Terms of Trade.
I explained often a comprehensive contract will act like a “filter”, removing potentially toxic clients at the quote stage. This simply works because non payers will take one look at your contract and discard the quote in favour of your competitor who does not have the power to impose major consequences when non-payment subsequently occurs.
So the answer to the question on what is worse than not winning the job? Actually doing the job and not getting paid!
All of my clients agreed they were more than happy NOT to win this type of job and save themselves the time, money, effort and grief involved.
